Privacy Policy
Effective October 1, 2026
DropZone (“we,” “us”) is a softball scouting app for coaches, operated by Laurence Degracia. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We don't sell your information, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
What we collect
- Account information — your email address and password (stored securely by our sign-in provider; we never see your password).
- Your team — the team name, state and age group you enter, your team code, and which coaches have joined.
- Scouting you enter — opponent teams, their games, and what you log about their batters: jersey numbers and names you type, at-bats, pitches, locations, results and notes.
- Lineup photos — if you scan a lineup card, the photo is sent to our AI provider to read the names and numbers. We don't store the photo.
- Device information for live updates — if Live Activities are on, a device token so we can show the live count on your staff's Lock Screens.
- Basic diagnostics — information our service providers collect to keep the app running, such as crash and error reports.
How we use it
- To run the app: sign you in, save and sync your scouting across your staff's devices, and show live updates.
- To send account emails, such as password resets.
- To provide support when you contact us, and to keep the service secure and working.
Who can see your scouting
Your team's scouting is visible only to coaches who join your team with its code. The owner of a team can remove coaches. When you add an opponent, its team name, state and age group go into a shared team directory so other coaches can find the same team; the scouting you log about that team is never shared outside your own team.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run DropZone, who process data only on our behalf: Google Firebase (sign-in, database, servers), Anthropic (reading lineup photos; not used to train AI models), Resend (account emails), Apple (Live Activities and notifications) and Expo (app updates).
Players' information
DropZone is used by coaches at every level, including youth teams (8U and up). Coaches, not players, use the app, and accounts are for adults only. Coaches may record opposing players' jersey numbers, names and on-field results, the same things that go in a scorebook. We recommend using jersey numbers alone for younger age groups. This information is visible only to the coaches on your team, and we'll delete any player's information on request — just email us.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account anytime in the app (··· › Settings › Delete Account) or by emailing us. When you do, your sign-in is deleted. Teams you share with other coaches stay with them, and the coach who joined first becomes the owner; teams only you are on are deleted with all of their scouting.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections and stored with access rules that limit each team's scouting to that team's coaches. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Your rights
You can access, correct or delete your information, and California residents have additional rights under California law. To make a request, email us. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
